Wild Quail Golf and Country Club

August 29

Despite heavy rain for our commute to Wild Quail on 29 August, Bob Rementer and the entire staff of Wild Quail did a fabulous job of ensuring it didn’t rain at Wild Quail!  We had a fabulous day and the course was in great shape!  Special thanks to Jan Zak and the ladies golf association of Wild Quail for their support, several of the ladies made wonderful raffle baskets, which were a big hit. Donna & Penny assisted with registration and then parked themselves on Hole #8 for the entire day to witness the Hole-in-One, which once again we failed to win the $5000.00 prize, but we appreciate the Dupre Keating Group’s Sponsorship and support of DWGA.  I would be remiss in also thanking Jan Zak for pulling my winning 50/50 ticket worth $635.00 for me as well as another $635.00 donation to the First Tee of Delaware!

2023 Senior/Super Senior Amateur

Heritage Shores Golf Club

June 27 & 28

Another Senior/Super Senior Amateur Championship in the books and once again we have a repeat performance from Angie Coleman! Congratulations to Angie and all our winners! Once again, we left the $5000.00 Hole-in-One Contest sponsored by the Dupre Keating Group unclaimed!

Special thanks to the following ladies from Heritage Shores for their assistance with registration and witnesses for Hole-in-One Hole: Sue Janes, Rosanne Cholewinski, Lisa Durante, Carol Brindle, Donna DeCarlucchio-Woods and Julie Mallam. Sue Janes was lucky enough to win $256.00 in the 50/50 Heritage Shores ladies did in support of The Breast Cancer Foundation, of course she had me pick the ticket, which was quite larger than the rest in the box!

We also like to recognize Becky Caprano and Jane Kuhfuss from The Rookery with their help with 50/50 ticket and merchandise sales, along with Debbie Grant, Polly Donaldson and Jackie Everett from Kings Creek. Marianne DeLorenzo was lucky enough to win $175 in the 50/50 which supports The First Tee of Delaware. The events take a village, and we appreciate all the support!

Lightening on Day 1 caused us to head back to the clubhouse before everyone finished their 18 holes, we only had the first five groups finish on Day 1! Thanks to the Brett Marshall and the golf and the Superintendent’s staff, we were able to get everyone out to the holes they had to

finish at 0800 on Day 2, while the five groups that beat the lightening were able to start their tee times on Hole #1 at 0800. The Sugar Beet staff prepared a wonderful lunch, which they fed us while all groups finished the second 18. Scoring continues to be a problem, and was slow with results, and posting to GHIN. Hoping this will not be a problem going forward, and we will do our best to correct this with golf staffs for future tournaments.

2023 DWGA Bash to the Beach
Ocean CityGolf Club & Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club
     May 15th & 16th

Another Bash to the Beach in the books, and thankfully mother nature cooperated this year!  There was a little confusion on Day 2 with scorecards and scoring, however we did review all the scorecards after the fact and although there were some math errors and in one case gross & net scores entered were reversed on one hole; none made a difference in the standings as announced.

2022 Senior Amateur Championship
Newark Country Club
June 27

Thanks to Matt Bonanno and the entire Newark CC Staff, for hosting the 2022 Senior Amateur Tournament.  The support was wonderful, and we appreciated their offer to store our clubs overnight.

The weather didn’t cooperate on Day 1, and it became a 27 holes tournament instead of 36 holes. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperative spirit as we attempted to keep everyone safe!

Unfortunately, we didn’t have anyone lucky enough to win the $5K Hole-In-One prize, but we all had fun trying!  We are very appreciative to the Dupre Keating Group for their generous sponsorship!
